Common Questions
What kind of ID is accepted?
A current, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID card, or passport. Every signer needs their own. If you're not sure an ID will work, ask when you book.
What if a signer doesn't have a valid ID?
Please call before booking. We can only notarize when we can properly confirm each signer's identity, and it's better to sort that out before we travel.
Should I sign the document before you arrive?
No. Leave it unsigned. You'll sign in front of the notary after we check your ID.
Can you tell me which document I need, or help me fill it out?
No. Rey Notary is not an attorney and can't give legal advice, explain documents, or choose, prepare, or fill out forms. The attorney, agency, or company asking for the document can tell you what you need.
Does my document need witnesses?
We can't tell you that. Please check with whoever prepared or requested the document. If witnesses are needed, have them there when we arrive.
Can you certify a copy or a translation?
No. New York notaries can't certify copies of documents, including passports and vital records, and we don't certify translations. The office that issued the original document is usually the place to ask about certified copies.
How is the price set?
A travel fee based on distance from Hicksville ($45 within 5 miles, $60 for 5 to 10 miles, $75 for 10 to 20 miles, or $95 for 20+ miles), plus the New York State fee of $2 per notarial act. After-hours, same-day, and facility visits may add a surcharge, always quoted up front. You'll have your price before we arrive.
Do you visit hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities?
Yes. Please check the facility's visiting rules and give us the room number. The signer must be alert, able to communicate, and signing willingly, and needs a valid photo ID. A hospital wristband isn't ID.
Do you offer evening, weekend, or same-day appointments?
Yes, by appointment and as the schedule allows. After-hours and same-day visits may add a surcharge, always quoted up front.
Which areas do you serve?
Hicksville, Jericho, Syosset, Plainview, Bethpage, Westbury, and surrounding towns in Nassau County. Farther away? Ask us; the 20+ mile travel fee applies.
Do you offer online notarization?
Not yet. Remote online notarization is coming soon. For now, every appointment is in person.
How do I book?
Use the booking form or give us a call. Tell us the document type, the location, and how many people are signing, and we'll confirm the time and your price.
